My encounter with Customer Delight

April 14, 2022 Leave a comment

For a while, I wanted to share something very mundane yet enlightening as far as how we receive, perceive and execute things. This is not a complex theory or abstract idea but a routine learning experience I had with my two little daughters (Swara and Atira) while my better half was away for a while due to family emergency in last November (2021).

Swara and Atira, both demanded to have Paneer (Cottage Cheese) Paratha (Layered Flatbread) in the dinner. Overconfident as I was, requested the cook to prepare Two Paneer Parathas- one for each. To my utter disbelief, I came to know that I have done blunder in understanding what was the actual requirement. Unfolds further:
Swara wanted to have only gravy (of curry but no Paneer Cubes) with triangle Parathas and Atira wanted to eat washed (of course as she is not fond of spices) Cubes of Paneer curry with triangle/round Parathas. The foolish Daddy had got Parathas made with the Paneer filled-in.
Succumbing to the demand of my little daughters (Customer in corporate jargon), Daddy had to order Paneer curry and prepare triangle Parathas with already available flour dough.
This has been an unforgettable lesson for me in being extra careful while grasping what our client really desires and not proceed in a hurry based on my own biases and experiences from the past.
Happy to share with my friends with the hope it opens a little window for learning!
